Better late then never

So on Monday we got some exciting news!  We are having a girl!  Though I'm still struggling with having a different sex of kid since I felt so sure it was a boy I'm getting pretty nervous and excited about doing something different.  So now I'm kind of like "what now?"  I'm trying to get clothes together.  A good friend of mine already gave me some old clothes of her daughters and I went through some of David's old clothes to see what I could reuse for a girl.  For some reason clothes is my biggest concern.  Since I already have a crib, a changing table, hangers, toys, and that kind of thing.  I don't feel like I have the space to start hording diapers.  So clothes it is.  lol
Well as time passes I know there are a few things that will have to be gotten.  Since storage is a pain here we had sold some of David's big items.  We will need a new swing and a little tub.  But those are easy to come by.  But now I'm all crazy about looking at double strollers.  I really want one since David still rides in his for walks and stuff.  I'm not sure which way to go.  If I want a side by side, a front and back, or a sit and stand.  Too many choices!  Plus the prices are all over the place for all 3.  So now I'm stuck.  Also a problem I feel like we'll be running into with that is that we have a Eddie Bauer car seat that I don't know will fit a lot of car seat adapters.  So then I'm worried about having to get a new seat.  Uh!  So frustrating and I still have a lot of time to go.  lol  So I hit 21 weeks in about 30 minutes.  :)
So for Thanksgiving we made a huge trip to Suisun California.  My brother Taylor, his wife Jessie and daughter Addison are stationed at Travis AFB.  We got to see San Francisco, Holly Wood, Fairview, Alcatraz Island (where we got to see the prison) and we stayed in Vegas two nights on the way out.  We had great eats (my sister-in-law and brother are a mean team in the kitchen), lots of laughs, and played lots of games!  Oh how I love games with my family.  Though the one we kept playing wow I can't think of the name off hand my sister in law Jessie hated it but put up with it since we were there.  We had lots of late nights talk over a game and enjoyed the nice weather.  Oh we also got to go to a Jelly Belly Factory where Joe bought 10 pounds of belly flops.  A belly flop is a reject jelly belly.  They have very high standards for their products and this stuff didn't make the cut.  We have tons left yet.  I don't like fishing through it in the dark because I always seem to get something that tastes gross.  They were great for having us for over a week and I couldn't have asked for a better time.  But now we have decided if it takes longer than 18 hours to drive we are flying.  I think if we would have gone strait with no stops it's like 26 hours to my brother's house.  Way to long!

Just trying to keep the ball rolling

So I want to keep this updated for the most part.  So I feel pretty strongly that this baby is gonna be a boy.  No, it's not from the million (ok 7) online quizzes I took that are supposed to predict the gender (they all said girl).  Though I did about the same with David and only 2 came out boy and guess what he's a living and breathing boy.  lol  I love feeling the little movements though they are still pretty random and won't settle out for little bit yet, it's pretty fun to feel them.
I got David to point at my belly and say baby.  He even takes up a notch some times and pulls up my shirt to look at my naked belly and says baby.  I know he knows what a baby is, but I don't think he will ever fully understand the baby in the belly thing.  He will give the baby a kiss if I ask him too, but that silly boy would probably kiss anything you asked him too.  lol
So due to recent travel plans we had to move back the ultrasound to next month which I'm still a little sad about.  Though I'll get over it.  So the first Monday of December we find out.  What's that the 3rd?  I think I'll be 21 weeks then.  So excited to finally know.  Wish I could know now since this is the time around when I found out what David's sex was.
So when we get back that first week of December is gonna be crazy!  There's the ultra sound, a dentist appointment, I get my eyes checked so I can get new glasses which David broke about a week ago (so sad I loved them), and we have Joe's Christmas party as his work.  Nothing like coming off a trip to kayos.  Well I will leave this with you.  Let me know what your predictions are about the baby.  :)

Well I made it 15 hours

So I feel like the fast itself was done in a way that was easy.  I did it from 7pm to 10am (technically 9 am with the time change).  I felt pretty good, but doubt I could ever actually leave the house while fasting.  I ate a nice breakfast before church which David helped me eat even though he'd already eaten his.  Ha!  Well am by nice breakfast I mean Peanut Butter Captain Crunch.  Haha!
So to church I just went with a pray full heart.
I don't get why I can't time manage.  David got up before 6 and Joe fell asleep way before me so he got up with him.  I was still out of bed before 8 and we were still late for church which starts at 10.  Maybe it was the fact that while I was showering David decided to get some raspberries from the fridge and then eat them getting red juice all over his pants and shirt that he was supposed to wear to church.  Maybe it was the fact that breakfast took longer because David sat in my lap and was feeding me and himself my cereal.  Or maybe I just suck at getting my butt in gear ever.  We make it to most things on time or just minutes late, but for some reason church is just not one of them.
So anyone keeping track I turned 16 weeks on Saturday.  I'm hoping on our appointment on Wednesday we pick a date for the ultrasound hopefully it'll land before we leave state for California for Thanksgiving.  I'm super excited.  I feel like it's a boy, but that's just me.  I asked David today if he thought it was a boy or girl and he promptly informed me it was a girl.  lol

Trying a 12 hour fast

So I doubt anyone besides Kate (who might be my only reader left, haha) actually knows we are having a baby in April.  May of you also might not know that we are supposed to be getting out of the military in March.  So with the laps of coverage and with some other hurdles before then I have decided the first time I'm going to attempt to fast while pregnant or nursing is now.  I might not make the 12 hours but I feel like we really need the help and guidance you get from a fast.  So though Joe plans on doing the whole thing I already told him I won't be able to do it with him.
So wish me luck and if you have the feeling in your heart when you read this we could sure use the prayers as well as we make some big choices once again.

Asthma or not asthma?

So I know it's been super duper long since I last posted!  Lets just say I have felt a little overwhelmed with life lately.  For some reason nothing every gets fully done and there are things I want to do but never do it.  I need to plan better I guess.  This is one of those things that far to often falls by the way side.
Long story short in the last 30 days we have spent the night in OU's Children's Hospital twice.  Which all I can say is just the funnest thing ever!  Not.  Around the end of last month I wanna say the last Saturday of the month David got a runny nose.  No big deal I think he got it from play with a friend who also was sporting one.  I figured no fever no worries.  I was wrong.  The next day he felt worse so we stayed home from church being it was Sunday.  All I remember is sitting down to lunch and David sitting in his high chair really struggling to breath.
So we called the doctor and waited for a nurse to call back and she asked how close we were to children's and I told her and she told me to come in right away.  Well David had fallen asleep so we played around to see if it would improve on it's own.  It didn't.  Joe thinking it would just be one long ER visit opted to stay home which was fine because I figured he was right.  We got to the hospital at 7:20 pm (it took extra long because I got lost).  We got a room by 7:40 and all the tests started with what seemed to be lighting fast speed for the ER (I'm used to sitting around and waiting forever).  They listened to him, did a chest ER to check for namia (which I cannot spell for the life of me).  They checked his oxygen in his blood (always a good amount).
They also did breathing treatments.  If you are unfamiliar with this it's pretty much like a smoke machine (or at least that's what it looks like) that take a liquid type steroid, coverts it into smoke and your kid wears an oxygen mask to breath it in.  They also call it a nebulizer if you have a home unit.  They did sever back to back ones at first (I wanna say 3 of them) and then 1 more later on during the night, but since it causes the heart to race since of the steroid they didn't feel comfortable doing more and wanted to keep him to be able to administer them throughout the night.
I just remember we actually had two ER doctor's assined to us, but mostly dealt with one.  The one who we didn't do much with simply stopped by our bed and said we are going to keep him over night and left.  I was in shock!  So I called Joe (though I was keeping contact with him throughout the night) and told him what was what.  I wanna say this was probably around 9:30.  So Joe loaded a backpack with whatever would fit and got on his motorcycle and met us at the hospital.
We didn't get into our room till 11!  We didn't get settled till about 1.  It was a horrible night of beeping machines people coming in and out to continue the treatments and to check on David.  David hated his IV.  Though they give them what looks like a black split for their arm so they don't mess with it, David kept messing with the Velcro on it.  David then woke up around 8:30 the next morning.  Uh!
So after awhile we got sent home with everyone saying it was just an infection that had affected his lungs and that lots of kids were getting it.  We all took a good nap that afternoon.
Fast forward to this past weekend.  David started to get a runny nose late Friday.  I was a little nervous because hello it was a flash back!  So we didn't do much this weekend.  Saturday the nose got worse and Sunday morning bang there it was again!  David got up around 6 and was heaving his chest again.  I had been given an inhaler last time, but it didn't seem to be helping.  I felt like it was to little to late.  So once again we just keep an eye on him.
David at one point got so upset and was coughing so much he threw up quite a bit.  But after that he seemed to feel better and actually ate something for the first time that day.  So I was hoping we had turned a corner.  Not really.  The breathing didn't get any better.  I think it was his sternum I could actually see at the bottom of his rib cage every time he tried to breath and that scared me!  So I once again call the after hours nurse and they tell me the same thing as last time.
Me thinking since it was a lot earlier in the day than last time told Joe to just stay home because they shouldn't be keeping us since we should hopefully get it all settled in the ER.  I was wrong.  We got there around 1:20 in the afternoon.  We quickly got a room and things were done differently this time.  We told them what had happened last time and we got an IV right away where last time we didn't get it till after we were in the hospital room.  They also started on the breathing treatments a lot sooner, but still did a chest x-ray to once again rule out any problems with the lungs.
I had to use the bathroom at one point and one of the nurses was kind enough to hold David for me so I could go.  After that every time a nurse came in David wanted to be held by them.  They thought it was pretty cute.  So a little before 6 they tell me once again they aren't completely happy with his breathing and once again keep him.  I call Joe and he gets there around 6:30.
We get into the room and all is set up and David goes to bed around 8, but wakes when he roles over but is asleep again by 9.  He slept a lot better the second time even with the lady who did the breathing treatments waking him up (to me it seemed to be on purpose where the last time they didn't wake him or really even touch him much).  We all woke up got our breakfast David got one more treatment and the Doctor (who was super nice) gave us the ok to go home.
The second time we were there everyone from the ER doctor to the hospital doctor kept saying asthma, but didn't really want to do much with it.   So we saw David's normal doctor today who also said the same thing and put David on a daily inhaler along with his already rescue inhaler.  So please keep your fingers crossed this doesn't happen again in a month or I'm going to freak out!  But overall David seems happy but is still having a little bit of breathing issues, but hopefully when the cold clears it does too.
Sorry for the book thought I'd keep you posted.  haha

Between a rock and a hard place

So this week we decided to change David from rear facing to front facing.  Most of you are probably thinking what's the big deal.  Well if you watch the above video maybe you to would think a little differenly of it.  Our car is getting past it's prime.  With over 194,00 miles on it and an AC that the highest setting on it no longer working David was simply just getting to hot facing the rear.  We had 100+ degrees a lot lately and our car gets a little hot with the faulty AC.  We made a simply drive from Moore to base which takes about 15/20 minutes and the back of his shirt was soaked.  I just couldn't put him through that in these hot days.  I just hope we'll be ok.  Also his chair has a really high back so that also stops the air flow.

So David is in a toddler bed.

So last month David climbed out of his crib twice in a day.  So mamma bear here decided it was time to convert his crib.  He actually does pretty well with it.  Bed time was pretty bad at first.  I'd lay my head by him until he fell asleep.  Most of the time I'd fall asleep too just laying there in the dark.  I know one time Joe came in after I was in there for like an hour to find me asleep on the floor.
Now I just put him in his bed and I know he is getting out right after I turn my back to get out of the room.  But it's fine.  He will play mostly even crys a little sometimes, but he always makes it back into his bed before he falls asleep.  A lot of times he brings the baby monitor into his bed with him.  I'm not sure why, but it happens a lot!
So naps are still a little iffy, but I think of the whole time he's only missed two naps.  Though he may play around for a long time but he always lays down to sleep.  Well what makes matters worse with that now is that he's figured out how to open the doors in our place.  So we have a baby gate infront of his door.  I did buy those door lock thingys, but will have to wait till after he wakes to put it on the inside of his door.  So hopefully he won't be opening the door every time.
But besides those two things I feel like it hasn't been that bad of a deal.  So my question for you guys how on earth do you keep your kids room clean when they pull every thing down every time they are supposed to be sleeping in their room?  I tried putting stuff in his closet, but he opens that door too and messes with stuff.
